Indian Institute of Technology Patna is one of the new IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament on August 06, 2008. IIT Patna is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The institute offers degree programs at both undergraduate as well as graduate levels across ten different departments. The institute has developed modern facilities that are fully equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities (equipment software and machines) that are routinely used to train and educate students in the various programs. IIT Patna campus is located at Bihta which is approximately 40km from Patna. IIT Patna is a fully residential, self-contained campus in a wooded land of 500 acres. The campus is a home to nilgai and other wildlife. A walk around the campus provides with an experience of being close to nature.

Bodh Gaya: It is famous as it is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have attained Enlightenment under a banyan tree, the Bodhi tree. The history of Bodh Gaya is documented by many inscriptions and pilgrimage accounts.
Nalanda: Nalanda was a Buddhist university established in about 450 CE, and was the longest running university in Indian history. It is considered by historians to be the world's first residential university and among the greatest centers of learning in the ancient world. Operating from 427 until 1197 CE, Nalanda played a vital role in promoting the patronage of arts and academics.
